Abstract
This research is about the capability result of appropriate descriptive and narrative paragraph organization written by the second year students of SMPN I Lasem at the immersion class in Rembang. The main objectives are to describe the students’ descriptive and narrative paragraph organization of the second year students in SMPN I Lasem Rembang at the immersion class and to identify the students problems in applying their knowledge to make paragraph descriptive and narrative that match with paragraph organization. The writer uses descriptive qualitative method to present the data. The subject of the study is limited to the second year level students of junior high school in SMPN I Lasem Rembang at the immersion class. The data of the research are sentences written in descriptive and narrative paragraph and interview scripts. The method of collecting data is documentation and interview. There are five steps in technique for analyzing data; identifying the data, categorizing the data, describe the students’ capability in writing, describe the students’ difficulties in organizing paragraph on writing, and making conclusion. The results of this research show that the students’ capability results in writing descriptive paragraph which appropriate paragraph organization includes in excellent category with percentage is 87,5%. The students’ capability result in writing narrative paragraph which appropriate paragraph organization includes good category with percentage is 79,17%. The problem faced by the students in organizing paragraph on writing descriptive paragraph is the difficulties in arranging description part. They have difficulties in imagine something to describe without a picture to help them in making descriptive paragraph about interesting place. The problem faced by the students in organizing paragraph on writing narrative paragraph is the difficulties in arranging the description of events that leads to crisis (climax),resolution, and coda. This written result also influenced the story that will make a narrative paragraph whether familiar or unfamiliar with the students.
