Abstract
Crime is a major problem faced by many countries, including Indonesia. Crime can be a threat to domestic stability, especially in countries with high crime rates. This study aims to estimate the factors that influence the crime rate in Indonesia for the period 2013-2023 using time series data regression. Partially, Poverty, Gross Domestic Product (GDP), and Per Capita Income have a positive effect on the crime rate, while the income inequality variable has a negative effect. The results of the F test show that the variables Poverty, Income Inequality, Gross Domestic Product (GDP), and Per Capita Income together affect the crime rate in Indonesia. With an R-Square of 88.43%, it means that variations in crime variables can be explained through variations in the variables Poverty, Income Inequality, Gross Domestic Product (GDP), and Per Capita Income. Based on this study, the government is expected to reduce the poverty rate so that crime can decrease. In addition, the government is expected to strengthen state security institutions so that they can handle criminal acts properly in order to create security for the community and investors.
