Abstract

Introduction: Low Back Pain is a common condition in the community with the onset of pain in the middle of the back without and accompanied by radiating to the legs caused by various factors including facet joint syndrome. Where facet joint syndrome is a degenerative condition of the cartilage and capsule in the facet joints that can cause limited movement due to repetitive and excessive activity. Facet joints play an important role in the stabilization and movement of the spine. Physiotherapy has been shown to be effective in treating LBP, including using modalities and non-modalities such as therapeutic manipulation. Research purposes: To test whether there is an effect before and after the administration of therapeutic manipulation intervention in patients with low back pain caused by the L3-L4 facet joints. Research method: This study uses a quantitative design and the type of research used is quasi-experimental with a one group pretest-posttest design. At the beginning of the activity, respondents filled out the informed consent sheet that had been provided and explained. Pretest and posttest interventions were carried out in the form of pain measurements, LGS, and filling out the questionnaires that had been given. The questionnaire was in the form of the Oswestry Disability Index. Then given intervention in the form of manual therapy including muscle release of the iliacus muscle, stretching of the erector spinae muscle, gapping at L3-L4, PAPV and TAPV, physiological movements. Data analysis techniques using descriptive analytic, descriptive statistical tests to explain the entire data, normality tests using the Shapiro-Wilk test, and hypothesis testing using the Paired Samples Test. Research results: there is an effect before and after the provision of manual therapy intervention. Conclusion: The SOP model of physiotherapy that focuses on facet joints can reduce pain, increase flexibility of the range of motion of the body's joints and increase daily functional activities of patients with low back pain et causa facet joint L3-L4.
