Abstract

In an increasingly advanced digital era, the Internet of things (IoT) refers to a network of devices connected online and promises convenience and efficiency. The aim of this research is to analyze in depth the urgency of legal development as a solution to facing the challenges of privacy rights in the Internet of things (IoT) era. This research uses normative law, where this approach is an approach carried out by examining case studies and statutory regulations. The results of this research are based on several main challenges, namely the gap between regulations and technology, vulnerable security and suboptimal law enforcement. This research also explains effective protection strategies such as improving and updating the Law on Personal Data Protection (UU PDP) which includes increasing fines and sanctions, stricter law enforcement, this strategy is supported by providing public education campaigns and training for organizations can help ensure that all parties understand their obligations under the Law on Personal Data Protection (UU PDP) as a form of implementation within the existing regulatory framework.
