Abstract
Background: Along with the times the phenomenon of smartphones is growing rapidly in the world that helps in everyday life. Smartphones are one of the results of technological advances that are popular in this modern era. From all circles of children, young adults, parents partly use smartphones. Usually smartphones are used for activities such as texting, games, calling and others. Texting is an activity in the form of typing something or sending a message to someone in the form of text. Texting affects systems that involve balance, tumb movement and cognitive involvement. Standing balance is a balance that requires the ability to maintain a body position where the Center Of Gravity (CoG) does not change. As long as a person stands still the Center of Preasure (CoP) pressure center is the point of application of the basic reaction force vector where the location of the vertical force support surface. The basic reaction will constantly achieve balance and counteract body sway. CoP is one of the most widely used balance measurements. Objective: To determine whether there is an effect of texting on smartphones on balance while standing. Methods: This study uses Quantitative methods with Pre Experimental research type with the form of One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The sampling technique in this study used non-probability sampling technique with purposive sampling method. Results: Based on the results of the effectiveness test, the 2-tailed sig value is 0.017 (p>0.05), which means that the hypothesis is accepted, namely the effect of smartphone texting on standing balance. Conclusion: In this study it was concluded that there was an effect of smartphone texting on standing balance.
