Abstract

Accounting is one of the departments at the Faculty of Economics that is very popular with students. Interest in accounting majors at various universities increases every year so that every year there are more and more graduates and competition in getting jobs can no longer be avoided (Dewi & Ratnadi, 2018). On average, students choose accounting majors based on the desire to become professionals in the accounting field (Ikbal, 2015). Accounting Professional Education (PPAk) is an additional level of education aimed at graduates of an economics degree majoring in accounting who wish to obtain an Accountant degree. PPAk is important for students majoring in accounting because PPAk can improve a person's competence to become a professional accountant. The accounting professional education program is to produce accountant graduates who have mastered skills in the accounting profession so that they have competitiveness as accountants. This research aims to determine the influence of student motivation, cost perception, and study period perception on student interest in taking PPAk. The population and sample in this research were students majoring in accounting at a university in Surakarta. The sampling technique used a random technique by distributing questionnaires with a total sample of 68 students. The data analysis method used is multiple linear regression to test and prove the research hypothesis. The test results show that motivation and perception of cost do not accept student interest in taking PPAk, while perceptions of the study period have a positive and significant effect on students' interest in taking PPAk.
