Abstract

This research examines the legal protection of minors from the negative impact of online gambling in Indonesia, a phenomenon that is increasingly rampant in the digital era. The development of technology and widespread internet access has opened the door for various groups of people, including children, to engage in online gambling activities. Children, who are a vulnerable group, face a variety of serious risks due to exposure to online gambling, ranging from addiction, fraud, to exploitation. Although there are legal regulations governing the protection of children from online gambling, implementation in the field is often not optimal and has not been able to effectively protect children from this threat. This research uses a qualitative method with a normative approach to critically evaluate existing legal policies related to child protection from online gambling. In addition, this study also analyzes the effectiveness of law enforcement and highlights the various challenges faced in efforts to protect children from the negative impacts of online gambling. The results show that there is still a significant gap between existing regulations and their implementation in the field. Factors such as a lack of public awareness, limited law enforcement resources, and a lack of coordination between relevant institutions are the main obstacles in efforts to protect children from online gambling. This study suggests the need for more strategic and comprehensive measures, including strengthening existing regulations, increasing public awareness through education, and strengthening collaboration between relevant institutions. Thus, it is hoped that a safer environment can be created for children in this digital era, while reducing the negative impact that online gambling has on Indonesia's young generation.
