Abstract
Aggressive driving behavior is a pattern of inappropriate actions that can disrupt the security and safety of society. Various factors can cause individuals to behave aggressively when driving, for example how much self-control and family social support they receive. The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between self-control variables and family social support with aggressive behavior. This research used quantitative methods with 151 student respondents in Solo. There are three instruments used, namely the self-control scale, the family social support scale, and the aggressive behavior scale. In this study, the snow ball sampling technique was used to obtain a sample of respondents using predetermined criteria. The data analysis used is multiple regression analysis. The results show that there is a very significant relationship between self-control and family social support and aggressive driving behavior in students (F = 74.153 with p = 0.000; <0.01). Then there is a very significant negative relationship between self-control and aggressive driving behavior in students (r = -6.928; p = 0.000 <0.01) and there is a very significant negative relationship between family social support and aggressive driving behavior in students (r = -3.199; p = 0.002<0.01). The effective contribution given in this research was 50% which was obtained from the effective contribution of self-control of 36% and family social support of 14%, depending on the influence of other variables not studied. Therefore, aggressive driving behavior can be minimized with good self-control and family social support
