Abstract

This research develops a fingerprint attendance model based on the Internet of Things (IoT). The tool is designed to prevent fraud, such as manipulation of attendance data by students, and to make it easier for parents to know the attendance status of their children. This system uses the Telegram application. The fingerprint sensor reads each student's fingerprint, providing input to the NodeMCU ESP8266. The NodeMCU ESP8266 processes the data from the fingerprint sensor and sends it to the internet and an LCD. The internet sends the data in two directions: to Telegram and to the cloud. Parents receive the data via Telegram, while educational institutions receive it via the cloud and then import it into Excel for data processing.Student registration in the fingerprint attendance system is comprehensively based on Telegram. This registration aims to input the students' fingerprint data and the prepared Telegram ID numbers of their guardians. Students who have provided their Telegram ID will register their fingerprints, so that during the attendance check, the students' data will be sent to their guardians' Telegram numbers.The results obtained from this research make it easier for teachers and school staff to take attendance of the students who are present. The system works well overall and meets the researchers' expectations. The tool's error rate is 11,54%.
