Abstract

This research aims to gain a deeper understanding of the psychological well-being of adolescents who have working mothers. The informants in this study are adolescents aged 13-18 years old who have mothers working full-time (8 hours a day). Informants are selected using purposive sampling, and the study employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data collection is conducted through interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis follows Creswell's theory, which includes six stages. The results obtained from each informant showed varying degrees of psychological well-being. In terms of self-acceptance and environmental mastery, none of the three informants fully met these aspects. However, in terms of life purpose and personal growth, all three informants met these aspects. Several factors can influence the psychological well-being of these children, including social support, personality, age, and socioeconomic status. The condition of working mothers has a significant impact on the psychological well-being of theiradolescents. The impacts obtained from the three informants who have working mothers on the psychological well-being of adolescents are feeling a lack of time with their mothers; lack of affection and attention; emotional instability leading to feelings of sadness, loneliness, jealousy, and envy; lack of quality parenting from mothers; and the tendency to engage in deviant behavior.
