Abstract

Traditional markets are an integral part of city life, but often traditional market infrastructure is not environmentally friendly. As in the traditional market in Boyolali Regency, namely there is a traditional market called Gagan Market, the results of the Post-Occupancy Evaluation (EPH) at this market, there are discrepancies with the PERMENDAG regulatory standards, such as the width of the access corridor, the parking area that takes up the shoulder of the road, the stall materials are minimal , unhealthy air circulation, and lack of natural lighting. Thus, Gagan Market needs to be redesigned as a means of the community's economy. The methodology in the data collection process for preparing architectural design concepts is by conducting direct observations in the field, literature studies and interviews with related parties, also involving comprehensive environmental analysis, energy use, water management and building materials. Taking into account cultural characteristics and market needs, environmentally friendly design solutions are developed to improve energy efficiency, air quality and thermal comfort. The results show that redesigning Gagan Market with a green architecture approach can produce a healthier and more sustainable environment for Gagan Market users. The integration of technologies such as solar panels, water recycling systems and natural lighting can reduce the carbon footprint and operational costs of Gagan Market. In conclusion, the redesign of Gagan Market with a green architecture approach provides a strong foundation for renewing Gagan Market, increasing environmental sustainability, and encouraging the local economy.
