Abstract
The Ampel substation is a newly operational substation, so its performance still needs to be evaluated and improved. The aim of this research is to determine the design of the 60 MVA transformer relay settings at the 150 kV Ampel substation, find out what factors influence the relay protection system, and maximize the protection system and overcurrent settings. The method in this research is direct observation of conditions in the field, then mathematical calculations including the installed CT ratio value, interference with the power transformer, setting steepness, and four types of current, namely setting, secondary, differential and restraint currents. The relay working system is then simulated using ETAP software. In the calculation results, the ratio value is 1905.225A. The differential current value is 0.17A, the restraint current value is 1.41A, the first setting steepness is 12.05%, the second is 24.11%, the setting current value is 0,17 A, and the disturbance on the power transformer of 5000A is 0.33A at a disturbance of 4100A is 0.04 A. The simulation results show that when the differential relay is detected, it knows there is an internal fault, then orders CB1 and CB2 to be disconnected. If interference occurs outside the protection zone, interference detection will be carried out by OCR (Over Current Relay).
