Abstract

High School (SMA) plays an important role in education in Indonesia, as mandated by the Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia. To address the impact of learning loss due to COVID-19, the government is working to enhance the relevance of education by implementing the Merdeka curriculum, which focuses on developing students' potential and creativity. In the 2023/2024 academic year, SMA Muhammadiyah PK began implementing the Merdeka curriculum, complemented by the ISMUBA religious curriculum (Al-Islam, Muhammadiyah Studies, and Arabic) to support students' holistic development. However, the implementation of the curriculum still faces deficiencies in facilities, specialized classrooms, discussion spaces, and flexible spaces for religious activities. The purpose of this design is to create a school environment that supports students' holistic development by harmonizing aspects of scholarship, humanity, and religiosity. Humanistic Architecture is applied to meet the needs of students in learning, socializing, and applying religious values. The methods used include direct observation, interviews with resource persons, literature studies, and data analysis. The resulting design includes: (1) Communal spaces that support social interaction both indoors and outdoors, meeting students' needs for interaction and discussion; (2) Learning facilities that align with students' interests and potential, supporting academic aspects; (3) Spaces that reflect humanitarian, scholarly, and religious values, with specialized rooms, flexible prayer rooms, and communal areas that reflect the harmony of scholarly, humanity, and religiosity aspects; (4) A design that creates a comfortable environment with good accessibility, paying attention to air circulation, lighting, and building aesthetics. This design successfully creates a balanced school environment between academic, social, and religious aspects, providing students with the freedom to optimally develop their potential and creativity. The main contribution of this design is the improvement of facilities and spaces that support social interaction, learning aligned with students' interests, and the harmonious application of humanitarian and religious values.
