Abstract

Waste is a global scale problem that is becoming increasingly worrying due to its uncontrolled increase in volume. By 2023, the national waste generated from 111 regencies/cities will reach 17.9 million tons. Of the total national waste production, 66.83% can be managed, while the remaining 33.17% or 5.9 million tons of waste has not been managed properly. The waste problem is also faced by Karanganyar Regency, Central Java. Based on data from the Karanganyar Regency Environmental Service (DLH) in 2024, the Regency's waste production reached 150 tons per day, most of which was disposed of at the Sukosari landfill in Jumantono District. In 2019, the total waste entering the Sukosari landfill reached 95,491.5m3. The high capacity of waste entering Sukosari landfill coupled with its non-optimal processing results in the emergence of various environmental problems. Based on these problems, it is necessary to reorganize the Sukosari landfill area by providing facilities in the form of an Integrated Waste Management Site. The design concept aims to reorganize the Sukosari landfill area based on an Integrated Waste Management Site (TPST) with an ecological architecture approach that can overcome environmental problems and improve the quality of the surrounding ecosystem.
