Abstract

The tourism sector that continues to grow over time has increased the existence of tourist attractions. To become a tourist attraction, a tourist spot must have its own appeal to attract tourists to visit. Tourist attractions are not only oriented towards the beauty of the place, but can also be in the form of historical, cultural, and even religious values. Like a traditional market, its existence which is now starting to be displaced due to the development of more modern shopping centers, can be used as a fairly promising tourism opportunity. One of them is the traditional market in Tawangmangu, namely the Tawangmangu Tourism Market. The strategic location of the market and its location in the Tourist Destination Area (DWT) make this market often passed by tourists. From its potential, this market has the opportunity to develop into a form of tourism that can later be developed into a regional Tourism Icon. The erosion of the age of the building has made this market lose its appeal. So the re-arrangement of the Tawangmangu Tourism Market needs to be carried out with the aim of making the Tawangmangu Tourism Market a tourism-based market that is able to represent the characteristics and characteristics of the region through the application of local potential in accordance with local identity. The method used in the restructuring is done through data collection, mapping of tourism potential, and literature review, which then from the data will be used as material for analysis and concept preparation. The results of this restructuring are oriented to make a market with a tourism icon concept, namely by highlighting the characteristics and potential of the Tawangmangu Tourism Market starting from cultural elements, history, and local products that it has. To support the realization of the tourism icon concept, a major redesign is needed by maintaining several building forms that symbolize the characteristics of the market itself and changing the appearance of the main building based on the characteristics of the local area and improving the pattern of spatial arrangement and circulation, in order to create a neat, comfortable, and clean traditional market. Thus, it is hoped that this market can be a place for marketing local products and introducing regional culture through activities outside of buying and selling.
