Abstract

Muhammadiyah Lampung University is located in the city center and far from districts and provinces. In addition, the increasing number of overseas students who are completing their education at the tertiary level. This condition certainly requires the development of Muhammadiyah Lampung University and provides temporary housing for students during their education period. Student dormitory is one of several temporary housing options available. Student dormitory was built using the Humanist Architecture Approach with the aim of creating a student dormitory residence that has a high Islamic spiritual atmosphere and prevents mental health disorders in students. To achieve these goals, a design method is used, namely the primary data collection method which is carried out by means of field surveys, observations, interviews, measurements, and direct documentation. In addition, there is a secondary data collection method carried out by collecting literature studies and precedent studies obtained from articles and journals, then the data is processed. The results obtained for humanist architectural design based on the important role of the pyramid of human needs, namely the design of dormitory buildings must include Physiological Needs (Hall & Pedestarian Street), Safety and Security (Secondary-Skin, Meeting Room, and Corridor), Love and Belonging (Communal Setting & Ballroom), Self-Estem (Lobby), and Self Actualization (Building).
