Abstract

Colomadu District is one of the districts with the highest population density in Karanganyar Regency. Colomadu District is located in an industrial area with a relatively high level of urbanization, resulting in a significant lack of green open spaces for recreational and social activities. The design of a recreational park as a communal space in Colomadu District aims to create facilities in the form of public spaces with a green open space approach that accommodates recreational activities for the surrounding population such as relaxation, stress relief, and enjoying leisure time after engaging in high-intensity activities or thinking to reduce fatigue. In addition to recreational activities, the design of a recreational park as a communal space in Colomadu District aims to facilitate social interaction activities for the surrounding population. The design of a recreational park as a communal space in Colomadu District is expected to make positive contributions to the economy, ecology, social, and aesthetics of Colomadu District. The design method used involves qualitative methods including literature review, field observation, benchmarking, and analysis. The results of the design concept of a recreational park as a communal space in Colomadu District consist of facilities that support recreational and social activities with building appearances using green architecture concepts that are energy-efficient and utilize recycled materials. The application of sustainable green architecture concepts in the recreational park area as communal space in Colomadu District is expected to create quality recreational parks and communal spaces that are environmentally friendly and have aesthetic values.
