Abstract

Surakarta is one of the cities that has a history of extensive railways, but there are still few places for preserving railway history in Surakarta. Preservation is very important to maintain historical values so that they are not forgotten and consumed by the ever-evolving era. Solo Balapan Station is the oldest and largest station in the city of Surakarta, Solo Balapan Station is also the most crowded station in the city of Solo. Therefore, the author proposes the concept of "Designing a Railway Museum Integrated with Solo Balapan Station Surakarta". The selection of this concept is based on the need for a place to preserve history as well as being the first tourist destination for tourists who first set foot in the city of Solo via Solo Balapan Station, not only that, this railway museum can also be a solution for users of Solo Balapan Station who in a certain time wait for the arrival of the train for a long time, these users can spend time visiting the railway museum while waiting for the arrival of the train. The methods used in this report are literature studies and observations. The results obtained, namely the Design of a Railway Museum Integrated with Solo Balapan Station Surakarta With a Colonial Architecture Approach that can be applied to the concept of the building, through the application of colonial architectural elements to the building creates an authentic atmosphere while inviting curiosity about the past. The integration between the railway museum and Solo Balapan station is not only an interesting tourist destination but can also be an icon of the city of Surakarta which is expected to bring a new face to the city of Surakarta.
