Abstract
The purpose of this research is to demonstrate the forms of directive speech acts in the animated video "Si Nopal" on the social media platform YouTube. This type of research is qualitative descriptive research. This qualitative research presents a report where the author does not use calculations. The data collection techniques used in this research are the observation, documentation, and literature review techniques. The observation technique involves collecting data by noting the information obtained. The note-taking technique used is to record words or sentences that represent forms of speech in the Si Nopal animation to obtain detailed desired data. The literature review is a data collection technique that involves reviewing books, literature, notes, and various reports related to the problem to be solved. The results and discussion indicate the forms of directive speech acts in the animated video "Si Nopal," with 10 data points identified. These data points include 45% directive speech acts of commands, 38% directive speech acts of prohibitions, 11% directive speech acts of requests, and 6% directive speech acts of invitations. From the discovered data, it can be concluded that the majority of speakers in the Si Nopal animated video tend to give commands, as evidenced by the highest frequency of directive speech acts found in the data being commands. In directive speech acts, it is essential to understand the meaning of the speech to avoid misunderstandings between the speaker and the interlocutor.
