Abstract

Playing is one of the essential needs of children that must be fulfilled, as in early childhood, children are experiencing rapid developmental and growth phases. Therefore, the child's surrounding environment should provide ample stimulation to ensure optimal child development, and one way to provide this stimulation is through play. According to the Central Bureau of Statistics of Sukoharjo Regency (2023), there are 16 Islamic schools ranging from kindergarten to elementary level, and 220 mosques in Kartasura, while the number of Muslims in Kartasura is 101,680 out of 110,465 people. This indicates that Islamic education activities in Kartasura are still very limited, especially for children. The aim of this project is to design an entertainment and recreational center that accommodates play and learning activities for children in accordance with the education of faith, worship, and morals, with the architectural concept of Islam on the former Terminal Kartasura land. The construction of the Islamic Children's Play and Learning Center can be an effort to improve the quality of life for children in Kartasura and its surrounding areas. By providing an educational and supportive environment for children, it is hoped to assist in shaping their character and development. The design concept of this project includes the use of Islamic architectural elements, warm and child-friendly color choices, and space arrangement that considers the needs and safety of children. The discussion methods used include observation, literature review, benchmarking, location analysis, and prototype design. The result is the design of the Islamic Children’s Play and Learning Center, which integrates Islamic child education with enjoyable and educational children's play experiences. This facility is designed to meet the needs of children aged 3-12 years old from various backgrounds, and to be a safe and enjoyable place for them to play and learn.
