Abstract

Indonesia is one of the countries with low literacy levels. The low literacy levels is influenced by cultural aspects, reading materials, and literacy centers are uneven in quantity and quality. One region that has problem with uneven of literacy centers is Karanganyar regency. Karanganyar regency has a central library in the middle of its long stretch of territory. That is makes the literacy place quite far from some areas of Karanganyar regency. Literacy activities and venues should be closer to other areas in Karanganyar regency. This can be addressed by establishing literacy parks supported by libraries. The literacy park is planned to be built in the western part of Karanganyar regency, specifically in Kebakkramat district. The design of the literacy park and library will be inclusive, utilizing a behavioral architecture approach. The nature and approach chosen to embrace various groups because education is a right for various groups. The inclusivity in the design encompasses provisions for individuals with disabilities and social inclusion. Disability inclusion targets visually impaired, physically disabled, hearing impaired, and those with mental disorders. Disability inclusion is realised by the presence of facilities that provide easy access, ease of gaining insight, therapy, and recreation. Social inclusion is achieved through empowerment and availability of spaces that meet user preferences. The integration of these inclusivity aspects can be solved with behavioural architecture approach. Behavioural architecture can influence space and individual. Influence is created through elements in the building and site to provide comfort, safety, and convenience for the user.
