Abstract

Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta is a private university located in the Pabelan sub-district, Kartasura, Sukoharjo. UMS consists of 12 faculties with 45 undergraduate programs and 16 postgraduate programs. As a university, UMS carries out its duties as a center for education, research, and community service. Therefore, infrastructure in the form of lecture buildings is needed to support activities. Steel is one of the materials commonly used as a building construction material. Its ductile nature makes steel superior in withstanding earthquake loads. The structure in this research is planned to have seven levels with a height of 4 meters between each level. The structural planning uses standard procedures applicable in Indonesia. SMF and special bracing are used as earthquake-resistant structural systems. The result is a sufficiently rigid structure when subjected to earthquake forces. From the planning results, WF 350X175, WF 400X200, WF 500X200, WF 600X300, and K600X300 beams are used as the main structure. Moment-resisting beam and column connections use four-bolt stiffened extended end-plate. Pile foundation is used as the sub structure.
