Abstract

Bullying can happen anytime, anywhere, and to anyone in the world. The phenomenon of bullying that occurs in society can be an inspiration to represent the phenomenon of bullying into a film or series, one example is the Netflix series “Girl From Nowhere (2021)”. Therefore, the researcher wants to know and describe the representation of bullying in the Netflix series “Girl From Nowhere (2021)”. In this study, the researcher used the media text analysis method with a qualitative approach that is descriptive and then the study was analyzed using semiotic analysis of Roland Barthes model. This study shows the representation of bullying in the Netflix series “Girl From Nowhere (2021)” which includes the phenomena of physical, verbal, and cyberbullying experienced by the actors in each episode. The factors that influence this bullying behavior can come from family conditions, social environment, or peer group. This study is expected to provide benefits for future researchers and the general public to develop this research further.
