Abstract

General elections are a forum for democracy where people have the right to choose who is worthy of leading a country. However, during the process, there are many obstacles that must be faced, including fraudulent practices in the form of money politics. The purpose of this research is to find out the obstacles faced and the prevention strategies carried out by the Boyolali Regency Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) in 2024. This qualitative research was written by utilizing primary data sources obtained through interviews and also secondary data sources consisting of primary legal materials such as laws and secondary legal materials such as books and journals. The existing data was obtained using the literature method and interviews with sources which were then processed using descriptive analysis method. The results showed that the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) had difficulty in handling violations of money politics because candidate pairs often took advantage of identity politics. The Boyolali Regency Bawaslu took preventive and repressive steps in facing this challenge. Preventive steps are realized by conducting socialization and education to related parties, while those who violate will be subject to strict legal sanctions. Intense cooperation is also established between Bawaslu and other institutions such as the police to reduce the number of frauds during the elections. This shows that the Boyolali Regency Bawaslu has made legal efforts in preventing money politics fraud in the 2024 elections.
