Abstract

This research investigates local community perceptions regarding the socio-economic impact of ecotourism development in Wana Wisata Nongko Ijo, Kare Village, Kec. Wungu, Kab. Madiun to find out how much influence ecotourism development has on people's livelihoods. Sampling using purposive sampling was given to 100 respondents to investigate community perceptions of local social and economic impacts with the criteria of residing in the Wana Wisata area, including managers, business actors and native residents of Kare Village around the Wana Wisata Nongko Ijo area. Factor analysis was carried out to identify latent variables and tested using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The Bartlett test results with a KMO parameter value of 0.776 where this value is more than 0.5 so that the initial requirements for the CFA test are met. SEM analysis results showing the Standard Factor Loading (SLF) values for each construct variable, namely POS1 (0.8523), POS2 (0.8793), POS3 (0.8167), POS4 (0.7514), NEG1 (0 .8368) and NEG2 (0.7535). The research results show that increasing the price of goods, job opportunities, ecotourism respects religious traditions, ecotourism guarantees community participation in tourism development which is a positive impact and the community responds with approval. Meanwhile, the local community's overall negative perception of ecotourism and the local community's perception that ecotourism development destroys natural resources is responded to by the community with disagreement, which means there is no negative attitude from the community and the development of ecotourism does not damage natural resources. To ensure sustainable ecotourism development and provide maximum benefits to local communities, these negative impacts must be minimized. Encouragement must be given to local communities to accelerate the positive impacts of ecotourism.
