Abstract
Child Protection Institutions (LPA) have an important role in providing legal assistance and protection for children who are victims or witnesses of criminal acts. This research aims to analyze the role of LPA in Klaten Regency in providing legal assistance and protection for child victims and child witnesses, as well as identifying the challenges and obstacles faced in its implementation. The research method uses a qualitative approach, through interviews with the Klaten Regency LPA. The research results show that the Klaten Regency LPA provides psychological assistance, legal advocacy, and ensures the fulfillment of children's rights during the legal process in collaboration with law enforcement officials and related agencies to provide maximum legal protection. LPA also faces challenges such as limited human resources and funding, lack of public awareness, and bureaucratic obstacles in coordinating with related agencies. This research provides recommendations for improving the quality of LPA human resources, increasing funding from the government and the private sector, as well as improving the bureaucratic system to facilitate coordination between agencies in handling child cases. Efforts to socialize and educate the public regarding the importance of child protection also need to be increased.
