Abstract
Self-acceptance is influenced by several things including social support and self-concept. This research was conducted to examine the relationship between social support and self-concept and the self-acceptance of prisoners in the class IIB Boyolali Detention Center. The research was conducted using quantitative methods involving 168 inmates at the Boyolali class IIB detention center. This research used the instruments of a self-acceptance scale, a social support scale, and a self-concept scale. Participants were determined using a purposive sampling technique with the criteria of prisoners being at least 18 years old, able to read and write, with a minimum detention period of 2 months. Data analysis using multiple regression analysis found that there was a very significant relationship between the variables of social support and self-concept with the variable of self-acceptance (F = 23.320; p= 0.000; p < 0.01). There is a very significant positive relationship between social support and self-acceptance in prisoners (r = 0.464; p = 0.000; p < 0.01). There is a very positive relationship between self-concept and self-acceptance in prisoners (r = 0.358; p = 0.000; p < 0.01). Effective contribution to the social support and self-concept variables with the self-acceptance variable showing a percentage of 24.6% with the percentage of social support playing a role of 17.6% and the remaining 7% of self-concept being influenced by other factors not examined in this research.
