Abstract
One of the things that can support the smoothness of the teaching and learning process is by utilizing instructional media optimally. Among the media that can be used in learning, especially in the Islamic religious education subject at MA Ma'arif Cepogo, is audiovisual media. The use of audiovisual media in Islamic religious education can facilitate students in understanding the materials presented by the teacher. In its utilization, there are various supporting factors and barriers that can affect the use of such media. Therefore, research and direct observation are necessary. The purpose of this research is to define the use of audiovisual media and identify the supporting factors as well as barriers in the use of audiovisual media in teaching Islamic religious education subjects. This research adopts a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis method. Data collection techniques are conducted through observation, interviews, and documentary studies. Participants in this research are the school principal, teachers, and students. This research provides an in-depth understanding of the implementation of audiovisual media in Islamic religious education. The results of the research indicate that there are stages of using audiovisual media in teaching conducted by Islamic religious education teachers, with computers, LCDs, and speakers as the media. Supporting factors include students' enthusiasm and spirit, while inhibiting factors include lack of facilities and infrastructure, as well as some teachers' inadequate mastery in using audiovisual media. Not all materials in Islamic religious education can be delivered using audiovisual media.
