Abstract

Career decision making is a persons ability to determine career decisions based on an assessment of one's attitude and character. Career decision making is influenced by several things such as self-efficacy and conformity. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-efficacy and conformity with career decision making. The research method used in this study is correlational quantitative method. The population of this study were students of the faculty of psychology, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta, totaling 1,489 students. The sample in the study amounted to 94 students. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with the characteristics of students of the Faculty of Psychology, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta who are still active in the 2023/2024 academic year, aged 19-24 years, class of 2018-2023. This study uses a scale of career decision making, self-efficacy and conformity. Data analysis used multiple linear regression test analysis. The results of data analysis show that there is a significant relationship between self-efficacy and conformity with career decision making, this proves that the major hypothesis of the study is accepted. Then it was found that self-efficacy has a positive relationship with career decision making, which means that the first minor hypothesis is accepted. The results show that conformity has a positive relationship with career decision making, which means that the second minor hypothesis is accepted. The effective contribution in this study was 78% with details of the self-efficacy variable by 68%, the conformity variable by 10% and the remaining 22% other factors, namely emotional regulation, perception of parental expectations, interest and others.
