Abstract

This research focuses on the struggle for love depicted in The Best of Me movie. The aims of this research are to analyze the indicators of the struggle of love in the movie, describe the struggle of love reflected by the main character in the movie, and explain the reason for the struggle of love raised in the movie. This type of research is a literary study. This research uses qualitative methods with a hermeneutic approach. The data of this research taken from two data sources, namely primary and secondary. The primary data is collected from scene captures and dialogue which are relevant to the object of the study. The secondary data taken from articles, websites, and journals that support this analysis. The results of this research are: (1) there are three indicators that influence the main character’s struggle for love, namely economic differences, family disapproval, and tragic accidents; (2) the struggle for love in this movie is reflected by commitment, sacrifice, faithfulness, and second chance; (3) the reason of struggle for love is addressed in this movie because the challenges and conflict experienced by the characters make the love struggle more real.
