Abstract

This research aims to develop a smart electronic socket that integrating face recognition as a security system and speech recognition as control system. The system consists of two main devices, namely the control device and the controlled device. The control device utilizes an Orange Pi 3B to perform face recognition for user identification. Upon successful identification, the system grants access and activates speech recognition. During speech recognition, the device responds to specific keywords spoken by the users. If the spoken words and the keywords matches, the device sends commands to the Firebase real-time database to modify specific parameters. Subsequently, the controlled device using ESP32 reads parameter values from Firebase. Upon value changes, ESP32 controls the relay condition to alter the electrical power of devices plugged into the socket. In the initial test, it was found that the system operates optimally with a three-second voice recording time with a maximum keyword length of three words. Additionally, other test results indicated that the device and system perform well with the response time of the controlling device is less than five seconds, the response time of the controlled device is less than nine seconds, the face recognition system achieves 100% accuracy on registered faces and 40-60% accuracy on unregistered faces, and there is no significant change in device performance whether using a casing or not.
