Abstract

In Indonesia, particularly in Central Java, poverty remains one of the most significant multidimensional problems. This study aimed to estimate the effect of gender development index, women's income contribution, and the proportion of women as professionals on poverty in Central Java from 2011 to 2022 using a panel data regression with a Random Effects Model (REM) approach. It was found that gender development index, women's income contribution, and the proportion of women as professionals had a negative impact on poverty. Therefore, the government should strengthen gender equality policies in education, health, and the economy. Special training programs for women in professional fields, support for women entrepreneurs, and flexible work policies are needed. Enhanced social protection and women's access to social safety nets are also crucial for reducing poverty and enhancing women's contributions to economic and social development.
