Abstract

Independence and an attitude of responsibility are important aspects that must be instilled in children, because independence will help children face the future, form quality characters and interact with other people. Independence will foster an attitude of responsibility in children where children understand the consequences of their actions. The role of fathers has a very significant impact in shaping children's character, however there are still many fathers who are not involved in parenting and there are still very few fathers who have an attachment relationship with their children, the parenting role is mostly carried out by mothers. The aim of this research is to describe the role of fathers in training independence and responsibility for young children in the 5-6 year, especially children in Kindergarten ABA 46, Semarang City. This research uses a qualitative type of research, with data collection methods using observation, interviews and documentation. The data analysis technique uses the Miles and Huberman model, namely data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. Data testing technique using triabgulation. The results of the research show that the role of fathers in training children's independence and responsibility in Kindergarten ABA 46 Semarang City is through giving simple tasks according to the child's age and the child's habituation. Where the father plays the role of teacher, role model, support provider, mentor, playmate and reward giver to children.
