Abstract
The aim of this research is to find out how fashion thrifting is interpreted as popular culture in the lifestyle of Muhammadiyah University Surakarta students. This research method uses qualitative methods and uses a phenomenological approach. In this research, Symbolic Interaction theory is used. The data collection technique used was observation and in-depth interviews. Based on the research results, it can be seen that students at the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta interpret fashion as popular culture in their lifestyle by thrifting. They choose used clothes because they are cheap, rare items, and want to look fashionable. In using used clothes, they are influenced by their circle of friends and economic factors. So used clothes have become objects sought after by Muhammadiyah University Surakarta students to meet their lifestyle and clothing needs.
