Abstract
High quality concrete is defined as concrete that has a high density, preventing air and water from entering the concrete mix, which can result in a decrease in the quality of the concrete. The definition of high quality concrete is concrete that has a compressive strength of at least 41.4 MPa (SNI 036468-2000). In this research, substitute materials were used, namely fly ash as a partial replacement for cement, and broken glass waste as a partial replacement for sand, with a focus on testing compressive strength, modulus of elasticity and absorption. The research method applied is an experimental method with mix planning based on the American Concrete Institute (ACI) guidelines. The varying proportions of fly ash used are 0%, 7.5% and 12.5%, while the varying proportions of broken glass waste are 0% and 10%, with a design compressive strength of 42 MPa. Cylindrical specimens measuring 15 cm x 30 cm were used to test compressive strength and modulus of elasticity at the age of 14 and 28 days, while cylindrical specimens measuring 10 cm x 20 cm were used to test absorption at the age of 28 days. The test results showed that fly ash substitution and glass fragments can increase the slump value, with the highest value in the fly ash variation of 12.5% and 10% glass fragments of 92 mm. This substitution can also reduce water absorption by 11.18% for the fly ash variation of 7.5% and 10% broken glass, and 17.45% for the variation of fly ash 12.5% and broken glass 10%. In terms of concrete strength, Substitution of fly ash and glass fragments showed an increase in compressive strength and elastic modulus values. Optimal results were found in variations of 12.5% fly ash and 10% broken glass, with compressive strength values of 39.81 MPa at 14 days and 46.98 MPa at 28 days, and elastic modulus of 30739 MPa at 14 days and 34447 MPa at 28 days.
