Abstract
Adolescence is a transition period towards adulthood which experiences various significant changes. The success of adolescents in going through this development is influenced by individual factors, environmental, family, social and economic factors. Teenagers who live in Islamic boarding schools experience different and unique experiences and environments compared to teenagers who live with their families at home. The success of ideal family functioning is able to support the development of children's mental health, especially anxiety. Each family stage has duties and roles to fulfill family development. The aim of this research was to analyze the relationship between family function and family stage and adolescent anxiety in high school students and female students living in Islamic boarding schools. The design of this research is analytical observational using a cross sectional method. Adolescents aged 14-18 years who live in Islamic boarding schools are the population in this study. The sampling method used the proportional stratified random sampling method with a sample size of 200 respondents. The data obtained from the questionnaire was then analyzed using the chi square test. The results of the bivariate analysis of the relationship between family function and anxiety obtained an OR value: 2.398 with a p value: 0.023 (p<0.05). The results of the bivariate analysis of the relationship between family stage and anxiety showed an OR value of: 0.916 with a p value of 0.842 (p>0.05). So it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between family function and anxiety, but there is no significant relationship between family stage and anxiety in high school teenagers living in Islamic boarding schools.
