Abstract
Education is a planned effort to create comfortable learning for students so that they can develop their religious potential, self-control, intelligence, and noble character for a good contribution to society, nation, and state. Merdeka Belajar is an approach that allows students to choose subjects according to their interests to optimize their talents. Minister of Education, Culture and Research, Nadiem Makarim, explained that Merdeka Belajar involves all stakeholders as agents of change in education development. The purpose of this research is to describe Ibn Khaldun's concept of education and its relevance to independent learning education. This type of research is qualitative research, because this research is conducted to explore and explore the concept of education, analyze, make interpretations of the facts of thoughts and ideas that have been written by thinkers and experts. This type of research is included in library research, namely studies that focus on the discussion of literature in the form of books, journals, and other publications. The result of this research is that there are three learning methods of Ibn Khaldun that are relevant to self-learning education. First, the method of phasing or tadarruj. Second, the method of mastering one field of this method encourages a deep understanding of one field. Third, the widya-wisata method or rihlah method which emphasizes travel or physical exploration to various places to gain knowledge.
