Abstract

Adolescence experiences many changes such as physical, emotional and social. The physical changes experienced by teenagers today are very demanding, because in society there are criteria for an 'ideal body' so that they do not experience body shaming. With the emergence of body shaming, teenagers need to have self-compassion behavior because when teenagers feel they are uncomfortable, with self-compassion teenagers can accept themselves warmly. The aim of this research is to describe self-compassion in adolescents who experience body shaming. This research is a qualitative research. The population of this study were teenagers who experienced body shaming and were aged ±12-24 years. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, with a total sample of 3 teenagers who experienced body shaming, 1 teenager was male and 2 were female. The data collection method uses semi-structured interviews. The data analysis method used is narrative descriptive analysis or more specifically interactive analysis. The results of this research describe self-compassion, namely self-acceptance, accepting advice, maintaining a positive outlook, managing emotions and factors that influence rising.
