Abstract

Concerns regarding the ease of obtaining information through ChatGPT are aspects that require further attention. The scholarly lineage (as-sanad al-‘ilmiy) holds significant value in religious knowledge. Therefore, religion commands us to be more selective in determining the sources of information. Discussions regarding murobahah and artificial intelligence are highly relevant objects for research, especially because murobahah is the most widely used scheme in Shariah-compliant economic transactions. This study aims to provide information about ChatGPT's responses to questions regarding murobahah. Additionally, it aims to present recommendations to relevant parties regarding ChatGPT's capability to serve as a murobahah fatwa provider. Testing ChatGPT by referring to the topic of murobahah is crucial to verify the alignment of its answers with the DSN-MUI fatwa on murobahah itself. This research is qualitative and descriptive in nature. Data were obtained from ChatGPT's responses to prompts concerning murobahah derived from 8 fatwas issued by DSN-MUI. The data were then compared to describe the aspects of conformity and non-conformity between the two sources. It is concluded that ChatGPT's responses contain more non-conformities than conformities with the DSN-MUI fatwa. Therefore, ChatGPT is considered incapable of serving as a fatwa provider in the aspect of murobahah.
