Abstract
The study aimed to examine the relationship between gratitude and mental health in final year students. The variables in this study were gratitude as the independent variable and mental health as the dependent variable. This study used a correlational quantitative method, with the number of respondents being 84 students from semester 7 to semester 13. Respondents scattered within the UMS campus were taken by accidental sampling method. The data collection method uses the Mental Health scale and the Gratitude scale. This study uses the Pearson Product Moment correlation analysis method. The results of the data analysis obtained show a correlation coefficient of 0, 548; p = 0.000 (p < 0.05) which means that there is a significant positive correlation between gratitude and mental health. The category of gratitude in final year students is classified as high followed by the category of mental health which is classified as high. Student gratitude and mental health are not affected by the type of student occupation, gender, and domicile. This is supported by the effective contribution of gratitude to mental health of 29.2%. This shows that the proposed hypothesis can be accepted, that there is a positive relationship between gratitude and mental health.
