Abstract

Problems related to the issue of children with special needs are increasing as the year goes by, especially in the province of Yogyakarta based on data from the Office of Youth Education and Sports in 2022/2023, the number of children with special needs in DIY is around 3,482 children, while in Bantul regency there are 1,286 children, according to Committee III DPD RI member Cholid Mahmud there are 7,500 people with special needs in Yogyakarta, and among them there are 1,200 children who have not enjoyed school. The increase in the number of children with special needs is not proportional to the special school facilities available in the province of DIY, there are still many special schools that are not in accordance with applicable regulatory standards, and the number of special schools in DIY is also limited and cannot accommodate children with needs who are still not in school. With this problem, the author was moved to redesign the Marsudi 2 Pandak Special School (SLB) which is located in Pandak District, Bantul Regency which will later be designed with facilities in accordance with the standards issued by Permendiknas number 33 of 2008, as a school for children with special needs by providing services that answer the needs of children with special needs and can adjust from several types of disabilities with a healing environment approach which prioritizes connectivity with nature with the application of green open spaces, This can affect the psychology of children with special needs through their five senses, so that they feel calm and comfortable when learning at school, with this implementation can support student learning concentration and help in the therapeutic stage for children with special needs.
