Abstract
A good MSME is able to create good and quality products without experiencing product defects because this will reduce its artistic value and function, thereby reducing the level of consumer satisfaction. One of the developing MSMEs is the furniture industry sector which is capable of becoming a top 10 priority export product that can be relied on to spur Indonesia's economic growth. UMKM Rasyid Jati Furniture is a business that has been producing furniture since 2008 and is based in Klaten Regency. Based on the results of the interview, UMKM Rayid Jati Furniture complained that the production process did not always run smoothly which resulted in product defects. Defects occur due to not being careful in sorting raw materials, cutting the wrong wood, and the absence of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). The methods used in the research are FMEA (Failure Mode & Effect Analysis) and DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control). Based on data processing, the research results obtained the lowest DPMO value of 7235.94, which shows that the company has been able to reach a sigma level of 3.94 or below the standard industry average value in Indonesia. There are 4 criteria for cupboard product defects, namely broken putty, color defects, imprecision, and cracked products. The percentage of defects in cracked wood is 40% of all defective products due to not having a special room for storing raw materials and finished goods.
