Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the perceptions of journalists from Surakarta City in using clickbait on news titles on social media. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method. This research uses a research procedure in the form of purposive sampling. The object of this research is the perception of journalists from, Surakarta City. Based on the theory of perception namely Attention, Selection and Interpretation. The results of this study are the attention of journalists from Surakarta City, namely that all informants pay attention to using clickbait in every news title they make and clickbait is also used in order to attract readers' interest but should not be excessive in its use, such as not being allowed to ignore it. related to a number of facts provided and must be within reasonable limits aimed at increasing the number of media visitors only, the selection carried out by journalists in Surakarta, namely by choosing words in making clickbait titles and also having to always apply journalistic rules and codes of ethics, interpretations owned by journalists, Surakarta City, related to the application of clickbait in news titles on social media, namely all informants have the opinion that clickbait may be applied in news titles but may not override the code of ethics and must remain consistent between the title and the content of the news being made.
