Abstract
Tourism visits at Parangtritis Beach have increased, especially during the holiday season. The number of tourist visits to the beach certainly carries risks that must be considered, especially in terms of safety. The beach that is directly adjacent to the Indian Ocean has large waves and dangerous currents called rip currents, these currents can drag a person into the middle of the sea. Data from Satlinmas SAR Region III Parangtritis for 2016-2022 shows that as many as 216 people became victims due to rip current. This study aims to utilize drones as, 1) Identifying the location of the rip current danger zone in the Parangtritis Beach area, 2) Analysis of the rip current danger zone in the Parangtritis Beach area. The method used in this study is a survey by conducting visual observations and purposive sampling methods using drones as a medium to identify rip current locations. Identification is monitored through drones so that the location of rip current can be known to produce safe and dangerous areas to visit. The existence of a trough or rip current is indicated at a location that forms a path or gap in the ocean. The results of the analysis show that rip current in Parangtritis Beach tends to be settled and evenly distributed which is influenced by basic morphology due to the presence of existing river estuaries and weather factors. Rip current located at Parangtritis Beach has 6 location points in January and 5 location points in February, the size of the rip current at each point is almost the same. The existence of current locations can be used to determine zoning to assist in the selection of safe locations to avoid dangerous currents. The zoning created is divided into 3 categories, namely, safe, alert and danger with different color signs.
