Abstract

Online gambling is often found and included in various media because the practice is increasingly easy to access. Students as an educated community who actively study at Islamic-based campuses are pioneers in contributing their thoughts and ideas for a better future, but in fact there are still many students who are involved in online gambling. This research aims to understand online gambling behavior among students from a religiosity perspective. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. Data collection was carried out using semi-structured interviews with 4 online gamblers among students. The data analysis technique is carried out using interactive data analysis. The results obtained are the background of online gambling behavior which is caused by environmental and economic factors, the form of online gambling behavior of students using gadget media which causes addiction patterns, as well as the effects of online gambling behavior in the form of financial losses and gambling addiction. The intensity of gambling is reduced due to increased religiosity with activeness in worship, because worship brings reflection to the subject so that it is easier to refrain from gambling, even though the reflection is only momentary and does not have a deterrent effect on gambling.
