Abstract
Wastewater from hospital operations contains levels that can harm public health and the environment. Therefore, the wastewater needs to be managed with WWTP to meet the quality standards before the wastewater is discharged into water bodies. This research was conducted at PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital Yogyakarta by collecting data on the existing WWTP and evaluating it. The laboratory test results at the inlet of wastewater at PKU Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta Hospital have COD of 104,5 mg/L, BOD of 53,1 mg/L, TSS of 81 mg/L, pH of 7,62, and temperature of 30,4 °C. The wastewater test results at the outlet of the existing WWTP still meet the quality requirements of DIY Regulation No. 7 of 2016 concerning Wastewater Quality Standards, but the existing WWTP still contains high sludge. So, it is necessary to redesign the WWTP design with the feasibility of building for the next 10 years with the planned WWTP system being anaerobic and aerobic with the DEWATS method. The WWTP components designed are grease trap, equalisation basin, initial settling basin/settler, anaerobic baffled reactor, anaerobic filter, aerobic ponds, and polishing pond. The planned WWTP produces effluent COD of 3,67 mg/L, effluent BOD of 1 mg/L, and effluent TSS of 1,54 mg/L, which meet the quality standards of DIY Regulation No. 7 of 2016 concerning Wastewater Quality Standards.
