Abstract
Academic procrastination behavior is a social symptom that tends to be done by students. This study aims to see if there is a relationship between peer social support and self-regulation with academic procrastination. The hypothesis of this study is that there is a significant relationship between peer social support and self-regulation together with academic procrastination. This study uses a quantitative method using three scales, namely the academic procrastination scale, the peer social support scale and the self-regulation scale with a population of active students in the undergraduate study program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta, both men and women who have completed five semesters. The accidental purposive sampling technique was used as a sampling technique in this study with a total sample of 115 students. The data analysis method uses multiple linear regression. The results of the major hypothesis test show a relationship between peer social support and self-regulation with academic procrastination. Then, the first minor hypothesis test shows that there is no relationship between peer social support and academic procrastination. Then for the second minor hypothesis, it shows that there is a significant negative relationship between self-regulation and academic procrastination. The coefficient of determination, 0.075, shows that the magnitude of the influence of peer social support and self-regulation on academic procrastination is 7.5% and 92.5% is influenced by other factors. Then the effective contribution of the X variable of peer social support is -0.0084% and the effective contribution of the X variable of self-regulation is 0.08% to the academic procrastination variable. In general, students with high peer social support and self-regulation will have a low level of academic procrastination.
