Abstract
Development is carried out to realize people's prosperity through economic development in overcoming various development and social problems such as unemployment. This study aims to determine the effect of the Human Development Index (IPM) and the unemployment rate on economic growth in the Madiun Residency in 2017-2021. The method used in this study is quantitative with an analysis technique using eviews, and using a sample of 30 data consisting of one city and five districts namely Madiun City, Madiun Regency, Magetan Regency, Ngawi Regency, Pacitan Regency, and Ponorogo Regency and 5 years (2017-2021). The results showed that the HDI and unemployment has a negative effect on economic growth.
