Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the types of swear words and excuses used by characters in the movie Uncut Gems Movie. This study is a descriptive qualitative research using the theory of Miles, Huberman, & Saldana. This study used a film entitled Uncut Gems Movie as the object of research. This research Data is in the form of a script script that contains swear words in Uncut Gems Movie. The results found that: (1) on the types of swear words found, the results showed that there are five types of swear words from seven types of swear words in the film Uncut Gems. (2) The author also analyzes the reasons for the characters in the film expressing swear words and the results obtained there are seven reasons out of nine reasons. From this study it can be concluded that people express swear words for various reasons. The situation when they have a dialogue underlying them is swearing.
