Abstract
This research has the objectives, namely (1) to describe the building structure in novel Laut Bercerita Laila S. Chudori's for teaching literature in high school; (2) to describe the personality of the main character in novel Laut Bercerita Laila S. Chudori's by using Carl Jung's theory for teaching literature in high school; (3) Describe the implementation of research results in the novel Laut Bercerita by Laila S. Chudori for teaching literature in high school. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The data collection technique of this research uses library techniques. The data used in this study is soft data in the form of sentences, words and not in the form of numbers contained in the novel Laut Bercerita by Leila S. Chudori. The data analysis technique used is the semiotic model reading approach, namely heuristics and hermeneutics. Test the validity of the data in research using data triangulation. Based on the research results, the researcher concluded three things, namely (1) the building structure in the novel is found in the theme and story facts which include theme, plot, characterizations, setting. (2) based on the main character's personality using Carl Jung's theory, namely archetypes found in persona, shadow, anima and animus, self in the main character. The dominant archetype is persona (3) the criteria for literature teaching materials must include language, psychology, and the background of the students. The implementation of Laut Bercerita by Leila S Chudori is in accordance with competency standards in analyzing messages from fiction books read.
